Select All

All shapes (nodes and connectors) can be selected using the Select All tool.  This is used for moving the entire diagram around the worksheet or for copying the diagram to another application.   For example, copying and pasting into a presentation.

To select everything, click on the Select All button in the ribbon.

Select Nodes

The Select Nodes tool is used to select only nodes.  This is used for formatting the nodes using Excel's formatting options.

To select all nodes, click on the Select Node button in the ribbon.

Select Connectors

The Select Connectors tool is used to select only connectors.  This is used for formatting the connectors using Excel's formatting options.

To select all connectors, click on the Select Connectors button in the ribbon.

Formatting Nodes

Node format can be changed using Excel's formatting tools.  All nodes can be changed at the same time by using the Select Nodes tool.  Individual and groups can also be selected manually.  In the example below, we will first change the visual style and then change the font of the node text.

First select all nodes using the Select Nodes tool.  When a shape is selected, the Drawing Tools|Format tab will appear.

To change node font, select all nodes.  Go to the Home tab and change the font to Verdana.

Formatting Connectors

Connector format can be changed using Excel's formatting tools.  All connectors can be changed at the same time by using the Select Connectors tool.  Individual and groups can also be selected manually.  In the example below, we will first change the line weight and then change the color of the connectors.

First select all connectors using the Select Connectors tool.  When a shape is selected, the Drawing Tools|Format tab will appear.

Change the line weight to 1-1/2 points.

Change the line color to dark gray.
