DTace Tutorials > Tree Settings > Tree Layout
DTace has a feature called auto arrange that will automatically arrange nodes. The Layout page of the settings form is used to control diagram orientation and node spacing if the auto arrange setting is turned on. The Layout page is shown below.
Auto Arrange Orientation
There are two types of tree orientations.
- Left to right
- Top to bottom
A left to right orientation starts with the root node at the left side of the tree. Successive nodes emanate to the right.
A top to bottom orientation starts with the root node at the top side of the tree. Successive nodes emanate to the bottom.
Auto Arrange Spacing
Spacing between nodes is set in points. A point is 1/72 of an inch. Refer to the tree below for the definition of horizontal and vertical spacing.
Auto Arrange Margins
The left margin is the distance from the left edge of the spreadsheet to the left edge of the leftmost node. The top margin is the distance from the top edge of the spreadsheet to the top edge of the topmost node. Margins are in points. Refer to the tree below for the definition of margins.
Examples
The tree below is a left to right orientation.
The example below is a top to bottom orientation.
