This tutorial will cover how to roll back a decision tree. For background information on roll back calculation refer to the decision tree basics tutorial.
A decision tree has been created with user entered data as shown below. Note that expected values are all zero, because the tree has not yet been rolled back.
To roll back the tree, click the Roll Back Tree button on the ribbon.
The Roll Back form will appear. Prior to roll back we need to specify the decision rule. Since we want to maximize expected value, the decision rule will be choose maximum.
With the decision rule chosen, click the Start button. The software will perform roll back calculations, determine the optimal path, and update the tree text fields as shown below.
